Walk Like A Man - Audition Day

We don’t want to run short of time on the day, so please get there for 12.30*. You’ll have time to prep in whichever way you prefer before we get started.
* We don’t have access to the room until 12.15 so arriving between 12.15-12.30 would be a great help Thanks 🙂
The afternoon will be broken into two halves. To get things moving, we’ll be working on some fun stuff – it’s key that everyone is comfortable so you can give your best. This will be up to 2pm , when we’ll be taking a break.
First Session
We’d like you to prepare a couple of monologues (I know, the old monologue routine). Because Walk Like A Man is a comedy drama, your monologues should reflect this. So, a funny monologue and a dramatic monologue. Around a minute in length is ideal, but we’re not gonna be clock watching, so if you want to make it a bit longer, that’s fine. Just don’t bore everyone to death. Please!
The rest of the first session will be more interactive, so that we can get a feel how different people work together.
Second Session
We’ll be getting more involved in the second session, based mainly on script work. The majority of the material will be taken from the WLAM script, and this way we’ll get a feel for how you see the characters. For this, we’ll guide you with regard to the characters’ personalities, then give you the opportunity to show us your version of the character.
Feel free to bring your own ideas and work with us in this development. It’s vital to the success of WLAM that it feels like a collaboration between the actors and directors.

For You
We’re planning the feel of the day to be relaxed. Don’t overthink it. Come along in a relaxed frame of mind. Yeah, it’s an audition, so learn the stuff that we’ve asked you to prepare, just don’t lose sleep over it. We want to see you at your best, not with your eyelids on your knees.
