Jack Garrett - Luke David Martin

Luke attended The Arts Educational School, London and is an experienced stage/theatrical and TV actor. His stage and theatrical credits include Pinocchio in Pinocchio (UK Tour), Friar Tuck in Robin Hood (Boulevard, Newcastle), Ugly Sister in Cinderella (Playhouse, Whitley Bay), Filthy Phil in Snow White: Rotten to the Core (Boulevard, Newcastle), Fairy Godmother in Cinderella (Stanley Civic Theatre), Ugly Sister in Cinderella (North East Tour), and junior ensemble in Rapunzel (Tyne Theatre and Opera House). Other live work includes Scare Actor at Psychopath (Lintz Hall Farm), Joe in Beamish Halloween Scare Week (Beamish Open Air Museum). Luke’s TV credits include Katherine Ryan’s: Parental Guidance.

"Uncle" Derek Owen - John Torrance

John has performed in both screen and stage productions. His screen performances include Ken Loach’s  Sorry We Missed You and ITV’s Vera, as well as a number of locally made short films.

John’s stage performances include writing and performing in a production at the Northern Stage, and the Durham Fringe Festival.

"Auntie" Sue Owen - Lynn Huntley

Lynn trained at The Arts Educational School of Dance & Drama in London. She has had a career working as an actress, singer, dancer and comedian in different shows touring in the UK and around the world. Her stage work includes performing as one half of the comedy duo Live Wire in the touring show The Comedy Café, stage work with the Royal Birmingham Ballet, Lonnie D – The Musical (most notably at The Royal Albert Hall in Rock Island Line), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf as Honey in one of her first ever stage roles, and more recently achieving a goal to play Martha in the same play, plus productions at Northern Stage and Durham Fringe Festival. Lynn has also directed and choreographed a number of shows. 

Lynn’s TV credits include Victoria Wood – As Seen On TV, warm up for Vic Reeves and Bob Morimer’s Shooting Stars, and Tyne Tees’ fly on the wall The Entertainers. Her Live work includes being host and compere for Model Search UK. Lynn has choreographed Jack’s moves for Walk Like A Man as well as co-producing.

Mick Garrett - Steven Lowes

Steven Lowes was born and raised in the East End of Newcastle. He came back to acting in his fifties after many years, and trained with The Actor’s Forge in Newcastle. Since then he has performed in The Club – A CIU Story, You Need To Say Sorry, appeared on stage at the first two Durham Fringe Festivals and at Northern Stage. Away from the stage, he has appeared in a number of short films.

As well as being the writer and co-director of Walk Like A Man, Steven has written a number of screenplays including Outside The Box, Knuckleheeds, PIGS and Within.

Michelle Garrett - Heather Dowey

Walk Like A Man is Heather’s first professional acting role. She came to acting late deciding the time was right to get on with something she’d always wanted to do. Heather progressed through classes at the Actor’s Forge, then successfully auditioned for Walk Like a Man, beating some very experienced and talented actors to the role. 

Michael Garrett - Craig Pearson

Gateshead native Craig has been back performing for the past 5 years, after not being involved in drama since his school days. 

A current member of The Actors Forge Acting School, he has an impressive CV already, with three Feature Films, numerous Short Films and several Theatre Productions under his belt, as well as presenting and producing credits.

Ray the Barman - James Craister

Local lad James is an actor who studied the arts from an early age, then returned to train at The Theatre Royal, Newcastle. He later moved on to become a founder-member of award-winning Newcastle acting school, The Actor’s Forge.

James has performed in theatre at Durham Fringe Festival, Northern Stage and at The People’s Theatre, as well as live performance with audience participation. James has recently been involved in a number of short films, an area of work that he is increasingly more involved in.

Eddie the Mackem - Colin Coombs

Colin Coombes is an experienced film and TV actor. His experience includes I Daniel Blake, Emmerdale, Nativity Rocks and the ITV Drama Paranoid. Prior to this, Colin had worked as a supporting artist on Eastenders. Walk Like A Man will be Colin’s first stage play.

Away from acting, Colin proudly served his country in the British Army and now runs his own pub in Sunderland.

Robert Carr - Director

Robert is a filmmaker who has been writing and directing for over ten years. Walk Like A Man is a rare departure from film for him, although his stage directing experience includes shows at Northern Stage and the Durham Fringe Festival. As well as directing, Robert has great experience in casting actors, which was a huge benefit in the audition workshops for WLAM.
