Eddie/Ray

Eddie is a work colleague of the lads working on the sites. Eddie is a Mackem and that normally wouldn’t work with such die-hard bunch of Newcastle fans, however, Eddie’s different. Mick and Derek saved Eddie’s life when they found him blind drunk in the snow in the middle of the night after a particularly heavy night out. Despite that bond, Eddie is a constant whipping boy because he’s from Sunderland. The rest waste no time in making him the butt of any joke that they can, but every now and then Eddie bites back to save some face. Eddie often overstates Sunderland’s achievements and when shot down he harks back to their “famous 1973 victory”, which is always met with jeers. As a single man, the lads often question his sexuality whenever he labels anyone gay, to which he takes great offence.

Ray is the landlord at the local, The Queen’s Head. He runs a tight ship and tolerates no nonsense in an effort to keep The Queen’s the type of place the regulars can relax and enjoy a night out. Ray has a constant ear to the ground and knows what’s going on in the more murky aspects of local life. At The Queen’s, he tries to provide activities for all, so that every night is busy and the type of place the regulars make the effort to get out to. Ray is well read and is always on hand with a true story or an incredible fact, but he’s known most of all for his awful dad jokes.
